Bishop T.D. Jakes is in stable condition after suffering a medical emergency during his church service on Sunday.
Footage from his live stream showed the 67-year-old pastor speaking to his congregation and then suddenly he dropped his microphone and fell silent. Jake suddenly started to tremble uncontrollably in his chair, prompting those nearby to quickly gather around him to offer their assistance.
Voices could be heard urging others to “step back” and “give him room” just as the livestream abruptly ended. Meanwhile, someone off-screen requested both the congregation and the online audience to “start praying.”
Shortly following the event, Jake’s team turned to X (previously known as Twitter) to provide an update regarding the pastor’s health.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement read. “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
A health emergency occurred at The Potter’s House in Dallas, where Jakes is the pastor. Jakes established this non-denominational, multicultural church in 1996, and according to the church’s website, it boasts more than 30,000 members.
