Donald Trump is reflecting on what he describes as an “interesting day” following a second alleged assassination attempt against him.

As previously reported, the Republican presidential nominee was at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, around 2 p.m. on Sunday when Secret Service agents, who were patrolling the course multiple holes ahead of him. They noticed a gun barrel protruding from the bushes near the property line. In response, they opened fire, prompting the suspect to drop an AK-47-style assault rifle, two backpacks, along with a GoPro camera before fleeing the scene. Authorities later apprehended the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Routh.

As of Monday, law enforcement officials are investigating Routh for what the FBI has labeled another assassination attempt against the former president while he was golfing. In a new post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his gratitude towards those who showed concern for his safety, stating, “I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes – It was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE.”

He continued, “THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”

This incident marks the second assassination attempt against Trump. The first occurred on July 13, 2024, when Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots into a Trump rally while the former president was delivering a speech near Butler, Pennsylvania. In that incident, Trump was reportedly injured, bleeding from his right ear due to the gunfire. Tragically, Crooks and a rally attendee were killed, while two others sustained injuries.

In light of these threats, Trump’s security measures have been significantly enhanced. He now has glass shields in place at his campaign rallies, and increased patrols appear to have played a crucial role in preventing the latest incident.

These recent attacks come as Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris prepare for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for November 5th.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as further details emerge.
