Remy Ma Calls Prison ‘The Worst Thing That’s Ever Happened To Me’

HipHopDX

Remy Ma has revealed her lowest moment, and not surprisingly, it’s the time she served in prison.

Back in 2008, Remy was sentenced to eight years behind bars — of which she served six — after being convicted of assault and criminal possession of a weapon for an incident the previous year in which she shot a friend following a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy’s purse.

The “All the Way Up” rapper looked back on her time doing time during an episode of Nick Cannon and Courtney Bee’s show We Playin’ Spades that premiered on Monday (September 16).

Nick asked, while riffing on the idea of “reneging” in spades, what one thing in her life Remy would take back if she got the opportunity.

“Not going to prison, ever. The fuck?” Remy answered without hesitation.

“Before that, it used to be the worst thing that ever happened was, I got cut in my face… It used to really bother me a lot, and I used to say, this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me,” she continued.

“And then there was the penitentiary. And I was like, this shit not cool. It was the worst thing that I’ve ever endured in my life, ever.”

In other Remy news, this past summer she gave fans more reason to believe that she and Papoose are no longer together by returning to using her maiden name.

Following months of rumors that the two had separated, she appeared to be going by Remy Kioni Smith, ditching Pap’s last name of Mackie.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the name change in the songwriting credits for Remy’s then-new single with Fat Joe“Outta Control.”

Her most recent release before that, last year’s “Ghetto & Ratchet (Remix)” with Connie Diamond, listed her name as Remy Mackie in the credits.

Neither Remy Ma nor Papoose have publicly commented on the status of their relationship, but it has been rumored that the former Terror Squad member had an affair with battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain.
