GloRilla Calls Out Rod Wave For Invading Album Release Date

GloRilla has made it clear to Rod Wave that she isn’t happy about him invading her album release date.

Rod announced on Instagram on Thursday (September 26) that his upcoming project Last Lap will arrive on October 11, which just so happens to be the same day that Glo’s debut LP Glorious lands on streaming services.

The Memphis rapper was none too pleased about the clash and commented on his post: “WHY DF WOULD YOU DROP ON MY DAY I’M FINNA TWEAK OUT.”

Rod then appeared to confirm that he was not moving his release date, writing on his Instagram Stories: “La twin drop same night” alongside a photo of him and Glo in the studio together.

GloRilla only just revealed that Glorious will be dropping on October 11.

She made the announcement on social media, saying: “GLORIOUS da album dropping 10/11 [fire emoji] So grateful to be sharing this with y’all and as a little treat I’m blessing y’all with HOLLON tonight at midnight,” referencing her latest single.

The “Tomorrow 2” hitmaker also unveiled the album’s artwork, which many fans compared to that of Rihanna’s own debut Music of the Sun.

“I really see the vision wait…” one person wrote on social media next to a side-by-side of the two covers.

Another fan made a joke about Glo’s thick Memphis accent, commenting: “her Murrrsic of the Sun wait—”

Last year, GloRilla shared an audio clip of a voicemail left by her grandmother (presumably to her mother), where she asserted that Glo and Rihanna share a striking resemblance.

“How come you didn’t tell me Rihanna and Gloria look so much alike?” her grandmother began. “I can’t tell them girls apart on TV. That girl look just like your daughter.”

The album news will be music to Rih’s ears as she previously inquired about its arrival following the success of Glo’s summer anthem “TGIF.”

In July, the Bajan superstar privately messaged the Memphis native with a self-deprecating comment that read: “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical but when the album drop?”

Big Glo shared the message in a recap of her visit to the 2024 BET Awards but did not show her response to the “Umbrella” singer.
