Iman Shumpert is standing by his story that despite being photographed together at a Miami beach last month, he and Amber Rose are just friends.
The former NBA star was cornered in New York City by TMZ and asked about the relationship.
“We went to College Hill [Celebrity Edition] together,” Shumpert said, denying that there was anything romantic about his relationship with Rose. “Any other time, y’all would’ve just let us eat, but I get it.”
Shumpert was likely referring to the fact that he is newly single, following the finalization of his divorce from Teyana Taylor this past summer.
His denials likely won’t pacify at least one person, Taylor’s close friend Dasia Nicole.
When photos of Shumpert and Rose together became public, Nicole responded with a fiery Instagram comment putting them on blast.
“This is so funny to me because when we were on that boat on New Years Eve you & your friends villainized me for peeping the sneaky shit that was going on while Teyana & her kids was on that same boat… and I was right!” she wrote. “This proves my point, then you want to be crying a river on that girl phone the next day.”
She added: “My friend has been nothing but graceful this whole time but you played a fucking game. Teyana I’m sorry that I got this deep but I’m tired of taking the high road. You’ve done everything in your power to save this man and his image.”
Nicole then directly addressed Amber Rose: “@amberrose I wish you would deny it for these blogs because I recorded the whole conversation! & y’all making excuses about him being single but he was good & married when this shit started. Corny asf!”
The drama comes just a few months after Taylor and Shumpert finalized their divorce, with the R&B singer reportedly receiving a seven-figure sum as part of the agreement.
Taylor initially filed for divorce in early 2023 and claimed that her then-husband had been repeatedly unfaithful and “emotionally and mentally abusive” towards her during their seven-year marriage.
Shumpert denied the allegations and claimed that Taylor provided no proof to back them up. He also petitioned the court to have their reason for divorce changed to “irretrievable broken bond.”
The former couple married in 2016 and share two daughters.
