The documentary’s trailer, released on October 21, starts with Shyne reflecting on his early days as a rapper. By the time he was 20, Shyne was a millionaire after signing with Bad Boy Records and releasing his breakout single “Bad Boyz.” According to PEOPLE, his career came to a halt after the 1999 shooting at a Manhattan nightclub involving Diddy, which left three people injured. Shyne was convicted of first-degree assault, while Diddy was charged with felony gun possession. However, the mogul was acquitted after claiming self-defense, and Shyne served time in prison.
In the documentary, Shyne and his mother, Frances Myvette, make serious allegations about the aftermath of the shooting. “He was betrayed,” Myvette exclaimed, while Shyne added, “I was absolutely set up to be the fall guy.” The upcoming film revisits the shooting and follows Shyne’s life after the shooting, including his time in prison.
