The music video for Marc Anthony‘s “Flor Pálida” has now captured people’s undivided attention more than a billion times.
The 2014 visual has officially joined YouTube’s Billion Views Club, as confirmed by the platform. This achievement marks the fourth time the Boricua superstar has reached this milestone, following his salsa banger “Vivir Mi Vida,” and appearances in Pitbull’s “Rain Over Me” and Gente de Zona’s “La Gozadera,” both of which feature the singer.
The music video follows the story of a struggling waitress, depicted through various scenes of her enduring the rain. As the narrative unfolds, there are whimsical moments featuring dancing scarecrows. The waitress eventually flees, carrying a large suitcase. Meanwhile, Marc Anthony is seen driving a jeep across cornfields where he eventually finds her, with the waitress enjoying happiness, feeding horses and spending time with the singer in a cozy home setting. The story culminates in their marriage, symbolizing a new beginning.
The salsa song, written by Cuban singer-songwriter Polo Montañez in 2002, is about a man who revives a dying flower as a metaphor for the rejuvenation that love can bring.
Marc Anthony’s version of the track reached No. 16 on the overall Latin Airplay chart in July 2014 and topped Tropical Airplay for two weeks between May and June 2014. The song appears in the singer’s 2013 album 3.0. This billion-views milestone comes as the music video marks its 10th anniversary, which was on Oct. 17.
The salsa superstar is currently on tour, with upcoming dates in Austin (Nov. 2), New York (Nov. 7), Miami (Nov. 16-17) and more. See his tour dates on his website.
