Oprah Winfrey Denies Being Paid $1 Million To Endorse Kamala Harris • Hollywood Unlocked

Oprah Winfrey is dismissing rumors that she was paid $1 million to host a town hall for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

While Oprah wasn’t eager to discuss the election results, which led to Donald Trump becoming President-elect, she made it clear that she didn’t accept any money for campaigning on behalf of the Vice President. When asked about the rumored $1 million payment, Oprah Winfrey stated that the reports were “not true,” adding that she “was paid nothing—ever.”

Oprah’s statement follows a report from the Washington Examiner, which claimed that her company, Harpo Productions, received a significant amount of money to host a celebrity town hall for the Democratic nominee in September.

Several celebrities joined the event via Zoom, including Meryl Streep, Bryan Cranston, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Oprah has consistently been a vocal supporter of the Democratic Party, campaigning for Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama in the past. She also endorsed Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential run.

Oprah didn’t just host the town hall; she also served as a keynote speaker at Harris’ rally in Philadelphia. However, her presence, along with Lady Gaga’s, wasn’t enough to sway the important swing state. Trump secured 312 electoral votes last week and will be sworn in this January.
