A teacher from the Dixon School District was recently arrested on 19 charges, which include statutory rape and inappropriate contact with a minor, according to Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD).

Following interviews with several victims, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) reports that Smith allegedly offered money to students in exchange for sexual acts, primarily taking place at her home. One victim mentioned engaging in sexual activities with Smith while still in middle school. The probable cause statement further alleges that Smith provided marijuana and alcohol to students, allowing them to consume these substances in her presence. Additionally, she is accused of sending inappropriate photographs of herself to a victim via Snapchat.
Smith is currently being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center, with a bond set at $250,000, either in cash or surety. The PCSD indicates that additional charges may be forthcoming as they continue to interview more victims.

According to online court records, Smith started working as a substitute teacher at Dixon Middle School during the 2022-2023 academic year. Subsequently, she was appointed as a Paraprofessional at the high school for the 2023-24 school year, later transitioning to a long-term substitute position until she resigned in August 2024.
