Dave Coulier has release a statement defending his ‘Full House’ co-star, John Stamos.
On Monday, Stamos shared multiple photos on Instagram showcasing himself in a bald cap to show support to his friend Coulier, who recently announced his diagnosis of Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Coulier also shared the images on his own Instagram, where co-stars such as Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber expressed their support in the comment section. Unfortunately Stamos was met with tons of backlash from social media after posting the photos.
The backlash became so overwhelming that Coulier spoke out to defend his longtime friend. “I’m sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as l’ve just begun my cancer journey,” Coulier wrote on Tuesday. “It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”
He followed up with a swipe left that added, “I have heard from so many people who have been inspired enough by my words and actions to say that they are going to check in with their doctors and get mammograms, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam. I’m still going to laugh in the face of adversity. When I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it. So, l’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am.”

Coulier’s message concluded with the important message to his Instagram followers. “I wish nothing but love for all of you.”
Coulier, widely recognized for his role as Uncle Joey on the ’90s family sitcom ‘Full House’ and its 2016 reboot, ‘Fuller House’, publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis last week. He was informed of his condition approximately five weeks prior.
“In that time I’ve had three surgeries, I’ve had chemo, I’ve lost a little bit of hair,” he said, patting his head in an interview with NBC. “It has been a rollercoaster ride, for sure.”
Coulier said at the time he’d already given himself a buzz cut, describing as a “preemptive strike” because he knew that hair loss was “coming” as he continues his treatment.
He went on to joke that with less hair, his hockey helmet fits better.
“I’m more aerodynamic on the ice,” he said, with a laugh.
