Authorities in Boulder are searching for an individual who has been placing inappropriate traffic signs throughout the city. These signs use explicit language to convey messages about road safety, resulting in a range of reactions from the community.

The signs were displayed at multiple intersections, urging drivers to put down their phones and obey speed limits. According to 9 News, some of the signs said, “Get Off Your Damn Phone” and “Don’t Kill Any Kids Today.” One explicit sign reads, “Slow The F– Down.” Police Commander Darren Fladung said in a statement that the vigilante’s possible motive could be a concerned citizen who was fed up with drivers.

“I’m guessing that it’s a concerned citizen that is kind of fed up with the behavior they’re seeing in their neighborhoods or other neighborhoods,” he explained. However, he emphasized that it is against the law to tamper with street signs, and there are other ways to address specific issues.

“I definitely appreciate the gesture behind what they’re intending to do, but there are other ways to address these issues,”

The signs were professionally made, which means that city transportation teams need specialized tools to remove them. A total of five signs were placed around the city, and the police are asking the community for assistance in identifying the individual or group responsible for this act.
