As we previously shared on Sunday (November 24), 67-year-old Bishop T.D. Jakes suffered a medical emergency during church service. As he was delivering a sermon to his conjuration at The Potter’s House of Dallas, a clip from the church’s stream went viral showing Jakes lowering his microphone as he started to shake and quiver his voice. As his hands and microphone fall to his lap, several people rushed to the stage to assist Jakes.
Soon after Bishop T.D. Jakes’ medical emergency during Sunday service, an update was shared to his Instagram account, revealing he was in stable condition and receiving professional care.
A statement from The Potter’s House of Dallas read, “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
Later that evening, Bishop T.D. Jakes’ daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband Touré Roberts took to Instagram with a video message, sharing another quick update on Jakes health after his medical emergency during Sunday service. Together, the couple said before going to bed they wanted to thank everyone for their “prayers, support, and concerns.” They said Jakes was doing well and getting better, to the point where he was ready to begin moving around like normal again.
On Wednesday (November 27), another update was posted to Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Instagram, this time it was him updating everyone as he left the hospital and headed home to finish recovering. In the emotional video, Bishop Jakes got teary-eyed as he thanked his family, friends, and supporters for all of their prayers. In the caption, he left a lengthy message, where he denied having a stroke and thanked the Lord that he received quick medical attention.
Bishop Jakes wrote, “Serving God’s people is an extraordinary privilege, and Sunday was no exception as I gave my all in delivering the message God placed on my heart. Even when I sensed the weight of my humanity and pushed through nonetheless, I’m reminded that even the strongest must rely on His strength.”
He continued, “I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke, however the event could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention. A special thank you to God and the medical professionals in our city whose speed and expertise were beyond exceptional. My job is to recuperate and reflect on God’s protection. I owe it to my amazing family and church members to rest and ruminate as He restores me towards His service. As God calls us to honor the Sabbath, I’m reminded that rest is not a weakness – it is a divine gift.”
He added, “While I continue to be strengthened by His grace, I stand in awe of my family and the tremendous leadership team that surrounds me. Together, we press forward, steadfast in the work the Lord has set before us. I’ve heard from friends from the global community who expressed God’s love in ways that were astonishing! God’s faithfulness was unmistakable to all those present. I’m forever humbled by your outpouring of love and support. I will always give my best. May His presence continue to guide and sustain you and provide peace and protection over you all.”
