Chloe Bailey is giving Kendrick Lamar his flowers. The R&B songstress hopped on Instagram live to connect with fans, and during that conversation, she took a moment to praise the rapper for his hot new album, GNX.
Bailey began by asking her fans who has listened to the project so far. She then revealed that she has had it on repeat for the past five days since its release. Before diving into her favorite songs, she made it clear that she didn’t just recently join the Kendrick Lamar wave. In fact, she’s been a fan for years!
“About eight years ago, I had a whole Kendrick phase and I was convinced I was going to be with him,” she revealed. “And I loved him when I was younger so much. Like, I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan from day 1. So I haven’t just hopped on the bandwagon.” Bailey then went ahead to share her favorite tracks from his album.
It’s been a great year for Kendrick Lamar. Not only did he release a groundbreaking track, “Not Like Us,” in the midst of a rap feud with Drake, but he’s also been announced as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
Speaking on this significant gig, Lamar said, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
Jay-Z added, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, stated, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop. We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show.”
Super Bowl LIX is set to take place on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome. Fans can look forward to hearing some of his classic hits as well as the latest tracks from his album.
