ICYMI: Hugo D. Almonte Apologizes for Outing Ex-Boyfriend Khalid: “It wasn't my place to reveal something so personal”

Hugo D. Almonte has returned to X to address the controversy surrounding his recent actions involving his ex-boyfriend, Khalid .

As previously reported, a few days ago, the model and content creator hopped on the social media platform and publicly criticized an ex who he claimed “lied” and accused him of breaking into a home. Instead of naming his former partner, he referred to him as a “dumb a–singer.” Shortly thereafter, he shared an internet-breaking selfie with Khalid, confirming the identity with the caption: “B—h a– [ninja emoji] lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him.” In the same breath, Hugo referred to Khalid as “ugly.”

The online uproar prompted the “Love Lies” artist to respond, not only defending himself but also coming out as gay in the process. Hugo faced significant backlash for outing Khalid, leading him to now share an emotional response to the criticism. In his recent posts on X, he stated:

“Hi everyone, I’ve been reflecting deeply on everything that’s happened, and it’s time I speak up. I’ve seen the comments, the backlash, and the disappointment. I understand why people are upset, and I take full responsibility for my actions. I made a mistake—a serious one. I outed someone, and that was wrong. No matter the circumstances, it wasn’t my place to reveal something so personal. For that, I am truly sorry.”
