As the NYPD manhunt continues for the shooting suspect in the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s fatal shooting, new photos have been released and the FBI has joined, offering a $50,000 reward, adding to the $10,000 announced by the NYPD.

As we previously shared, on December 4, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in Midtown, New York. It was then claimed the bullet casings from the ammunition that killed him reportedly had the words: “Deny,” “Defend,” and “Depose,” written on them — words that are reportedly used to describe the strategy and tactics that health insurance companies, like UnitedHealthcare, use to deny claims by its sick patients.
Within the first few days of its manhunt, NYPD investigators were sharing updated photos of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect. Each update revealed more of his face, which was initially covered with a black hooded winter jacket and black face mask, pulled up to the bridge of his nose and over his cheeks. A second batch of updated photos released then showed the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect with his black mask down, revealing his face.
In the second round of photos released of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect, he was seen standing at a counter, head tilted down some, and smiling, showing off all of his teeth, full nose, and eyes. In addition to the photos of the suspect’s face, NYPD investigators also revealed that they found what they believed to be his backpack in Central Park on Friday evening (December 6).
However, after taking the bag to a forensics lab in Queens, investigators updated on Saturday, (December 7) that the contents only included Monopoly money and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket. A gun has yet to be found.
Additionally, in Saturday’s reports, ABC News said sources with direct knowledge of the ongoing investigation claimed the NYPD is making good progress towards identifying the suspect, however, they still have yet to confirm an identity. In the meantime, they have continued combing through the city for evidence and further clues to bring forth the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect.

Later Saturday evening (December 7), NYPD investigators released a third set of photos of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect and the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has joined in on the manhunt, offering a $50,000 reward, adding to the $10,000 first announced by the NYPD.
In the new set of images of the shooting suspect, he could be seen from a camera mounted inside a taxi. One of the photos showed him looking through the partition between the back seat and the front of the cab. In a second photo, the shooting suspect was seen outside of the vehicle. However, in both photos, the man’s face was partially covered with a blue, medical-style mask.
Furthermore, a whopping $60,000 reward is now being offered by law enforcement for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s shooting suspect.
As mentioned, the New York Police Department (NYPD) first announced that a $10,000 reward would be offered for any information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction, and late Friday evening (December 6), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that it was offering up to $50,000. The move came after police called the shooting death of the UnitedHealthcare CEO a “premeditated and targeted attack.”
The FBI released a wanted poster that read, “The FBI is assisting the New York City Police Department in the shooting death of a 50-year-old male victim on the morning of December 4, 2024, at approximately 6:40 a.m. outside of 1335 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan. We are seeking the public’s help in identifying the unknown suspect responsible for the homicide.”
