The boys, who are 12 and 15 years old, began their peculiar sleeping habits in the summer and kept doing so as the temperature dropped to below-freezing levels. As the boys sleep in the cold under blankets and winter coats, worried neighbors are worried about their safety, according to the New York Post. After visiting the house on November 30 and livestreaming his interview with the brothers, independent journalist Marc D’Andre raised awareness of the case.
The boys are not being disciplined or neglected, according to the local police, and their parents have sought therapy to deal with the matter. Despite community criticism, Detroit Police Commissioner Rebecca McKay said in a statement that the sons’ choice to sleep outside was their own, and their parents are not being charged.

The situation reportedly changed when the boys recently moved indoors to stay with family friends. In response to community concerns, the police launched an investigation. However, the parents were found to be cooperative and genuinely concerned about their children’s well-being. The oldest sibling is currently facing pending assault and battery charges in juvenile court.
