#Socialites, get into this: President-elect Donald Trump has expressed that he would consider pardoning New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is currently facing serious federal fraud and corruption charges.
During a news conference held on Monday at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, Trump stated that Adams had been treated “pretty unfairly,” although he admitted he was not well-versed in the specifics of the charges against him.
“Yeah I would,” Trump said when asked about the possibility of a pardon for Adams. As we previously reported, the Mayor is under scrutiny for allegedly accepting luxury travel perks and illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals, including a Turkish official. These perks are valued at around $100,000, and investigations have also extended to multiple members of Adams’ administration.

In recent weeks, Adams has shown signs of warming up to Trump, particularly following the latter’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. There have been whispers about Adams potentially shifting his political allegiance, as he previously identified as a registered Republican in the 1990s and early 2000s before fully committing to the Democratic Party.
In a recent interview with PIX11, Adams remarked, “The party that’s the most important for me is the American party. I’m a part of the American party. I love this country. This is the home of the free, the land of the brave.”
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Adams will respond to Trump’s remarks regarding a potential pardon. The dynamics between the two leaders could signal a significant shift in New York City politics, especially as Adams navigates the troubling waters of corruption allegations while weighing his political future.
