Van Jones Says Donald Trump Is 'Smarter' Than Him And All Hie Critics: “We're The Idiots”

During an interview on Chris Cilizza’s YouTube channel, former CNN reporter Chris Cilizza spoke with Van Jones about Donald Trump’s successful presidential campaign.

Jones, a former adviser to President Obama, candidly shared his perspective, admitting that he believes President-elect Donald Trump is smarter than himself and all of his critics… “Guys, can we cut it out? Donald Trump is not an idiot. Let me just be very clear. Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all of his critics. You know how I know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, the popular vote,” Jones explained.

Jones, 56, delved deeper into his analysis, stating: “He has a massive media ecosystem bigger than the mainstream built around him, and for him, and a religious fervor in a political movement around him. And his best buddy is the richest person in the history of the world, and the most relevant Kennedy is with him.” He asserted that Trump is the most powerful person of our lifetimes and expressed that the Democratic Party ultimately appeared to be “idiots.”

“We’re the idiots,” he said. “We lost. So we have to go back in the locker room and we have to sit down and figure out how in the hell did we get beat, and when you look at it closely, it’s the arrogance, it’s the elitism, it’s not respecting people, it’s not listening to people.”

Jones is not the only Democrat to publicly reflect on realizations following the 2024 presidential election. Sunny Hostin, one of the Democratic Party’s most outspoken supporters on ABC’s The View, acknowledged that her faith in her party may have obscured her understanding of the needs of working-class Americans.

“Maybe it’s time for the Democrats to do a little bit of this postmortem. The Democratic Party has always been the party of the working class. If you look at all the policies, they’re for the people,” she stated. Yet, despite their promises and intentions, she conceded, “the messaging didn’t resonate.”

“I don’t think the Republican Party is the party of the working class,” she maintained, but she noted that Trump’s narrative, however flawed, has filled a vacuum left by Democratic missteps.
