Chance The Rapper’s Wife, Kirsten Corley, Reportedly Files For Divorce After 5 Years Of Marriage

Just when we thought we had seen enough celebrity breakups this year, yet another couple is officially calling it quits.

This Friday, Chance The Rapper’s wife, Kirsten Corley, filed for divorce after five years of marriage, according to TMZ. As of now, it remains unclear what Kirsten is seeking regarding spousal or child support, but the news follows the couple’s recent announcement of their separation.

In a joint statement released in April, they expressed, “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition.”

The couple, who wed in 2019, share two young daughters, Kensli and Marli. Their relationship appeared strong for a time, but fans began to notice troubles following Chance’s controversial carnival appearance.

As previously reported, the rapper faced backlash last year when he was seen on video dancing closely with another woman, an act that is considered normal in Jamaican culture, particularly during festivals. During that period, Kirsten took to Instagram to share a cryptic response to the criticism, highlighting a quote from Maya Angelou’s *Letter to My Daughter*.

It read, “Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it. They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they marry, they have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older. But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It means you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy. It’s serious business. And you find out what it costs us to love and to lose, to dare and to fail. And maybe even more, to succeed.”

She added in the caption, “I hope one day, we all choose to grow up.”

Chance and Kirsten are known for keeping their relationship private, so while the exact reasons behind the breakup remain unclear, fans are sending positive messages amid this unfortunate situation.
