Brittany Mahomes is addressing critics after facing online backlash for allegedly liking a post by former President Donald Trump. She seemingly took the opportunity to share her thoughts with those who were slamming her on social media.

On Friday, August 23, the 28-year-old co-owner of the Kansas City Current took to her Instagram Stories to confront her critics. In her post, she highlighted the “deep-rooted issues” some individuals seem to have, addressing the negativity directed towards her. “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” the message on Mahomes’ Instagram read. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

Media outlets such as Newsweek and The New York Post have covered the controversy surrounding Brittany Mahomes’ alleged social media interaction. Numerous accounts on X (formerly Twitter) circulated screenshots and screen recordings showing her Instagram handle linked to a post by Donald Trump. As of Saturday, August 24, Mahomes’ like was no longer visible on the post, and she does not follow Trump on Instagram. Additionally, she has not publicly endorsed any presidential candidate.

The Instagram post from August 13 that Brittany Mahomes—wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes—was said to have liked features a square graphic outlining the “2024 GOP platform.” This graphic lists 20 of Trump’s key talking points as he campaigns for the upcoming November election.

This week, social media users—primarily on X—expressed their discontent over Mahomes’ alleged like, with some criticizing the content of Trump’s post and others questioning whether anyone was genuinely surprised by her interaction with it.
