The workplace incident occurred at the office of Anderson Express Inc. on Tuesday, where 32-year-old Nathan Mahoney allegedly stabbed Erik Denslow in the side. The Fruitport Township Police Department reported that Mahoney fled the scene in his vehicle but was apprehended 15 minutes after officers responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. According to PEOPLE, the motive for the attack remains unclear, and co-workers described Mahoney as someone who had a “quiet demeanor” in the office.
Investigators are exploring all possibilities, including the potential for a “copycat” attack inspired by the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month in New York City. Denslow has been the company’s president for less than two years and was promoted within a year of joining. In a statement, Anderson Express expressed their shock over the incident and pledged to support employees as they cope with this traumatic event.

He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond for the assault charge and an additional $1,000 bond for fleeing.
