Rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden is reacting after his disorderly lewdness charge went viral. Budden’s attorney also spoke on the matter.
As we shared earlier this morning, Joe Budden was recently charged with disorderly lewdness, accused of standing naked in the hallway of an apartment building in Edgewater, New Jersey.
It is reported that the building is where he has been filming his show, ‘The Joe Budden Podcast.’ Budden has been vocal about his issues with his neighbors in the building, even claiming that he was recently kicked out of his apartment for continuing to record podcast episodes there; leaving him to find a new place to set up shop. Budden’s recent charge seems to shed some more light on the apparent situation. Furthermore, Budden also previously claimed on his show that he is a sleepwalker.

Now, according to court documents, Joe Budden was charged with disorderly lewdness on December 4 in Edgewater, New Jersey. The Edgewater Police Department claimed that his apartment building neighbor saw him standing completely naked in the hallway via their Ring Camera footage.
On December 30, the Edgewater Police Department released a statement after reports about the incident surfaced online. The authorities explained that officers were called to an apartment complex at approximately 7:21 AM. The neighbor told police that they were alerted by their Ring Camera that somebody was outside their door and when they checked out the footage, they allegedly saw Joe Budden standing in the hallway completely naked. The neighbor also claimed that Budden was attempting to enter a code into their door keypad several times before returning to his apartment in the same building.

According to the court complaint, the resident and two juvenile daughters witnessed the alleged offense on a cellphone in real-time. Joe Budden is due in the Edgewater Borough Municipal Court on the afternoon of January 16 to face his disorderly lewdness charge.
Following the viral reports, memes, and comments about Joe Budden being charged with disorderly lewdness, he has since reacted with a post on X that read, “Y’all so dramatic lol.” He also shared a meme and an image of himself, appearing unbothered, on his Instagram Story. Elsewhere, Joe Budden’s attorney, Nima Ameri, Esquire, of Ameri Law Firm, also addressed the matter.
Ameri fired back at the Edgewater Police Department’s press release and told TMZ, “Mr. Budden is saddened by Police Chief Martin’s press release. Mr. Budden has been waiting weeks for his cross complaints to be processed which include substantially more serious charges including possible felony charges against the persons behind these charges against him. The Chief has in our opinion sat on those but instead used his time to gain some free publicity for himself. Chief Martin should seek publicity by doing notable policing not inflaming disorderly person allegations.”
Ameri added, “The allegations against Mr. Budden are a minor charge, not even resulting in an arrest. A charge Mr. Budden is looking forward to beating in court on the merits, not in the press. The Chief’s comments are reckless, and in our opinion racially motivated. Our research has not shown a single press release on a disorderly person charge on the police website this year. His choice to single out Mr. Budden in our opinion is self-motivated and based off Mr. Budden’s race and celebrity status.”
