Fans of Baddies star DJ Sky High Baby are rallying around her after a distressing encounter with Miami police. The incident unfolded when her boyfriend, Olympic track medalist, Fred Kerley was arrested following a physical confrontation with four police officers on Thursday night, and she happened to get caught up in all of the chaos.
According to police reports, an altercation began with exchange of words. Apparently police were conducting an investigation near Kerley’s vehicle when he allegedly tried figure out what was going on near his car. However, a verbal altercation between police and the athlete occurred and reportedly spiraled into Kerley being subdued by a stun gun. The Miami Beach Police Department has since released bodycam footage of the incident, which has drawn significant media attention.
While facing charges of battery of a police officer and resisting arrest without violence, on Friday, authorities announced additional charges against him, including robbery/strongarm and domestic battery, stemming from a prior altercation on May 7, 2024. This earlier incident involved a physical confrontation with his estranged wife, with whom he shares three children.
His attorney, Richard L. Cooper, is adamant about his client’s innocence, stating, “These new charges are stemming from a falsified accusation that has resurfaced because of this new media attention from last night’s wrongful arrest.” Cooper emphasized Kerley’s achievements, declaring, “I can say that Mr. Kerley is a record-breaking athlete who has honorably and successfully represented our nation in the Olympics many times. These charges are false and indicate the brutal police state that Miami Beach has become.”
As for his current girlfriend Sky, she found herself in a legal bind as she faces charges of resisting an officer without violence. Her actions during the incident, which included recording the confrontation, reportedly diverted the attention of several officers from assisting with the situation.
In an emotional statement to CBS miami, she expressed her support for her boyfriend, saying, “He was not aggressive. This does not give police the right to push him and be aggressive for no reason. He’s an athlete. He is Team USA. It is not like he is playing for another team. He is here. This was so unfortunate. I want to go back home to Los Angeles. I have never been arrested before or been in trouble.”
Despite the chaos of the night, fans are relieved to hear that DJ Sky has been released from jail. She has made it abundantly clear that her loyalty lies with her boyfriend, stating, “Imma stand with my man. Period.”
