Ryanair has filed a lawsuit against a disruptive passenger who caused over $15,000 in damages. The airline is one of the largest airlines in Europe.
The incident occurred last April on a flight from Dublin to Lanzarote, where the passengers were forced to make an unscheduled landing in Porto, Portugal, due to the passenger’s behavior. According to the New York Post, the disruption reportedly caused significant delays, requiring overnight accommodations and incurring passenger expenses and landing fees. The lawsuit was filed in Irish Circuit Court, aiming to receive compensation from the unnamed passenger.
Although the passenger’s actions have not been disclosed, the airline has had its fair share of incidents involving passengers on their flights. Viral videos on social media have shown in-flight brawls, public outbursts, and other inappropriate actions. Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary previously expressed concern about passenger behavior and urged airports to limit passengers to two alcoholic drinks per boarding pass.
