The House Oversight Committee meeting went off the rails when Nancy Mace challenged Jasmine Crockett to a physical fight.
Mace, the Republican congresswoman took offense after Jasmine Crockett referred to her as a “child” while taking shots at her obsession with anti-trans rhetoric. “Somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now,” Crockett said of Mace. “So she can’t keep saying trans, trans, trans, so that people will feel threatened. And child, listen—” Mace didn’t waste any time and jumped in, shouting: “I am no child! Do not call me a child. I am no child. Don’t even start. I am a grown woman, 47 years old.”
As Crockett attempted to carry on with her point, Mace just kept on shouting over her. “I have broken more glass ceilings,” Mace shouted over Crockett. “You will not do that. I am not a child. I am not a child. If you want to take it outside.”
Meanwhile, the committee chair, Republican Rep. James Comer, was slamming his gavel and calling for order, but it wasn’t making a dent.
Democratic Rep. Maxwell Frost, another committee member, took to social media after the hearing to give his take on the whole situation.

“Nancy Mace asked Jasmine Crockett to ‘go outside,’” he wrote on X. ”Chair Comer ruled that threatening violence against another member is okay, as long as it’s in the form of a question! Wild.”
Mace grabbed headlines back in November when she led the charge to keep then-incoming Rep. Sarah McBride, a transgender woman, from using the Capitol Hill bathrooms that matched her gender identity.
This latest outburst at the Oversight Committee isn’t the first time Mace has hinted at being down for violence. During the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, she allegedly urged her staff to let her “get punched in the face.”
“She literally begged us to let her leave the office and head to the floor so she could ‘get punched in the face’ and ‘get media attention,’” a former aide for Mace told the Daily Beast in January 2024. “That’s word for word what she requested.”
