On Wednesday, President Trump dropped an executive order that bans transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.
This new order is set to shake up the rules around sex and sports, directing federal agencies—like the Department of Justice—to interpret Title IX in a way that blocks transgender girls and women from participating in female sports categories, as outlined in a White House document obtained by ABC News.
The order is reportedly named “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” the order demands immediate action, targeting schools and athletic organizations that don’t provide women with single-sex sports and locker rooms. It also instructs state attorneys general to pinpoint effective strategies for enforcing these new rules.

The White House is anticipating that major sports organizations, including the NCAA, will update their policies to align with this order once it’s official, according to a senior official in the administration.
