Kanye’s Website Removed From Shopify After Selling $20 Swastika T-Shirts

Kanye’s Yeezy Website Taken Down After Controversial Merch Sparks Backlash

Looks like Kanye is going to have to go back to the drawing board when it comes to selling his latest shirts, as his new t-shirt collection has been scrubbed from Shopify.

As previously reported, Ye had been selling t-shirts on his Yeezy website bearing a swastika, the symbol of the Nazi Party adopted by Adolf Hitler in 1920. The shirts were going for $20, and Shopify was being used to process the orders. However, as of this Tuesday morning, the Yeezy.com website is down. “This store is unavailable,” its homepage read.

Shopify Speaks Out on Why Kanye’s Website Was Removed

A Shopify rep released a statement to journalist Loren Lorasa, confirming the platform’s decision to cut ties with Ye’s online store.

“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify.”

While Shopify didn’t specify which of Ye’s actions led to this move, many suspect it was a combination of antisemitic imagery, controversial product resales—including a remake of the hoodie Cassie wore in the 2016 video where Diddy was seen assaulting her—or just everything all at once.

Kanye Stays Silent as Criticism Grows

So far, Ye has not publicly commented on his site being scrubbed from Shopify. However, his actions continue to be condemned by groups including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and National Director, issued the following statement last week regarding Ye’s latest controversial tweets, where he attacked Jewish people and referred to himself as a Nazi:

“Here we go again. Another egregious display of antisemitism, racism, and misogyny from Ye on his X account this morning. Just a few years ago, ADL found that 30 antisemitic incidents nationwide were tied to Kanye’s 2022 antisemitic rants.”

“We condemn this dangerous behavior and need to call it what it is: a flagrant and unequivocal display of hate.”

“We know this game all too well. Let’s call Ye’s hate-filled public rant for what it really is: a sad attempt for attention that uses Jews as a scapegoat. But unfortunately, it does get attention because Kanye has a far-reaching platform on which to spread his antisemitism and hate. Words matter. And as we’ve seen too many times before, hateful rhetoric can prompt real-world consequences.”

What’s Next for Kanye After Shopify’s Ban?

With Shopify pulling the plug on his store, Ye is left without a major platform to sell his controversial merch. The question now is—what’s next?

Will he attempt to build his own platform? Will another e-commerce service be willing to take him on despite his history of hate speech and controversy?

One thing’s for sure—this move by Shopify sends a strong message that platforms are not willing to tolerate certain types of content, even if it comes from a global superstar.

Will this move anger Kanye and lead him on another rant? Or will this be a wake up call to wrap his antics up? Only time will tell what the controversial rapper will do.
