Dr. Kumait Jaroje, a business owner in Worcester, Massachusetts, claims that his Tesla Cybertruck has made him a target for harassment. In an interview with CBS Boston, he revealed that the situation escalated after he shared a photo of his uniquely customized gold Cybertruck online.
Jaroje alleges that following his social media post on February 7, 2025, someone placed an explicit sticker on his vehicle. Since then, the harassment has intensified, affecting both his business and family. The medical spa entrepreneur, who emigrated from Syria three years ago, initially painted the truck gold as a marketing strategy for his business. However, the attention it garnered quickly turned negative.

According to Jaroje, the harassment began after Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 election. Musk’s political leanings made the Cybertruck, already a polarizing vehicle, even more of a target for critics.
Jaroje expressed concerns about his safety, stating:
“Now, they’re not just waving at me, they’re not just giving me the middle finger. Somebody tried to cut me off while I’m driving with my kids and three guys came out of the car and just pointed the middle finger and started screaming at me,”
The incident highlights the growing political divide among Tesla owners and how public perception of Musk’s statements can impact individual customers.
Tesla Reportedly Denies Cybertruck Trade-In Request
Tesla’s Customer Service Response
Hoping to de-escalate the situation, Jaroje contacted Tesla’s trade-in program to explore options for exchanging or selling his Cybertruck. However, he received a different response.
Tesla representatives allegedly informed him via phone and text message that Cybertruck trade-ins were not being accepted. He recalled:
“He confirmed with the text message that Tesla is not accepting Cybertruck trade-ins at this moment,”
This denial leaves Jaroje in a frustrating position—forced to keep a vehicle that has become a source of stress and safety concerns.
