Why Storm Reid Is Leaving Euphoria

Her Departure Was Announced in November

In November 2024, it was announced that Storm Reid would not be returning for Euphoria Season 3. Although she has not publicly shared specific reasons for leaving, her busy schedule and academic commitments may have played a role.

Gia’s Impact on Euphoria

Since Euphoria premiered, Storm Reid’s portrayal of Gia Bennett has been a crucial part of Rue’s story. As Rue’s younger sister, Gia often provided a grounded and emotional contrast to her older sibling’s struggles with addiction and trauma.

Reid’s natural chemistry with Zendaya was one of the show’s most heartfelt dynamics, making her departure even more emotional for fans.

Reid Balancing Her Acting Career and Education

In addition to her acting career, Reid is preparing to graduate from USC later this year. Juggling a full-time academic schedule and multiple projects could have influenced her decision to step away from the show.

Changes in the Euphoria Cast

Reid is not the only cast member leaving. Other actors, including Barbie Ferreira, announced that they won’t return for Season 3. However, most of the original cast is expected to return when filming resumes. Angus Cloud, who played Fez, passed away at 25 in July 2023.

As Euphoria gears up for its third season, several key cast members are set to return, ensuring continuity in the series’ dynamic storytelling. Notably, Zendaya will reprise her role as Rue Bennett, the show’s central character. Joining her are Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, and Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs. Additionally, Dominic Fike is confirmed to return as Elliot, a character introduced in the second season.
