It was a wild Saturday afternoon in Inglewood when a customer at the CarMax on La Cienega Boulevard crashed his vehicle into the dealership, injuring eight people in the process.
According to LAPD, the call came in at 2:03 p.m. about a disturbance with a customer inside the CarMax building. What started as an argument allegedly escalated fast. The man, who was having his car appraised, stormed out, got into his vehicle, and plowed straight into the building — causing chaos, panic, and injuries.
Employees and customers were caught off guard, and by the time the dust settled, eight people were left injured. Two of them are in critical condition. The rest were treated for minor injuries on-site, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
LAPD & Fire Crews Jump Into Action
In true L.A. fashion, confusion kicked in real quick. First responders thought they were rolling up on an active shooter situation — that’s how chaotic it was. But when they pulled up around 2:10 p.m., they quickly realized this wasn’t gunfire, it was a car-ramming.
The scene was updated to a “vehicle into a structure” incident, and backup was called immediately. It didn’t take long for LAPD to catch up with the suspect, who had tried to flee the scene. He didn’t get far. Officers tracked him down at a nearby location and arrested him on the spot. The suspect is now in Inglewood PD custody.
Police have not yet released his identity, and authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
