Get into this wild story: A married teacher was arrested after being accused of forcing young students into group sex and threatening suicide if they reported her actions.
Who Is Brittany Fortinberry?
Brittany Fortinberry, the teacher at the center of this scandal, worked as a substitute for Martinsville schools before being terminated on January 9, 2024. Prior to that, she had a stint at Eminence High School in Morgan County, where she allegedly taught several of her young victims.
She left that position on August 23, 2024, but not before reportedly leaving a trail of destruction in her wake.
Victims have come forward to share their experiences. According to court documents, one middle school boy accused Fortinberry of drugging him multiple times, engaging in sexual activities with him when he was just 13 years old. He revealed that she would entice him to bring friends to her house, where she would allegedly provide them with drugs and then sexually assault them.
What’s even more disturbing is the revelation that Fortinberry is accused of spending approximately $600 on gifts for these teens before coercing them into sexual acts, often forcing them to wear masks from the movie “Scream.”

The Alarming Threats Made by Fortinberry
It gets worse. Fortinberry allegedly made it clear to the young boys that if they reported her, she would take her own life.
This manipulation not only created an environment of fear among the victims but also obscured the truth from their parents, many of whom were unaware of the abuse burning behind closed doors.
Another victim bravely stepped forward, claiming that Fortinberry offered anywhere from $100 to $800 in exchange for photos of their genitals. One of her alleged victims recounted a horrific experience, stating that if any boy resisted her advances, she would rape them while ominously saying, “Just let it happen.”
Complicit Silence: A Family Affair
The nightmare didn’t stop there. While the parents of the victims had little knowledge of the ongoing abuse until the Department of Child Services launched an investigation, one parent disclosed that Fortinberry’s husband was aware of the misconduct.
According to court documents, he allegedly made threats against a teen who was contemplating coming forward, threatening to “slaughter (the teen) in front of her if he came forward.”
Now, the teacher who allegedly committed these heinous acts against young boys while working in two different Martin County schools in 2024 has been hit with several new sexual abuse charges this week.

A Growing List of Charges
One brave victim initially told authorities that there were at least five other victims, but estimates suggest there could be as many as 10. Prosecutors recently filed a motion to add a staggering 10 counts of child molestation, eight counts of dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to WTHR.
These new charges come in addition to the three counts of sexual misconduct, one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor that were previously filed against her in February.
To add salt to the wound, prosecutors are pushing to increase Fortinberry’s bond from $20,000 to $150,000 as the case continues to unravel.
Whew!
