When Opinions Turn Violent: OMG, Reporter Gets Sucker Punched During Street Interview on Abortion

Conducting random street interviews in New York can already be a gamble but when you’re touching hot-button issues like abortion, things can flip real fast. And for 23-year-old pro-life activist and reporter Savannah Craven Antao, that gamble turned into a wild, bloody reality…

While speaking on camera for the advocacy group Live Action, Savannah approached a pro-choice woman to get her perspective on abortion rights. But what was supposed to be just another passionate exchange turned violent within seconds.

In the now-viral clip, you can hear the woman say, “You don’t understand the magnitude of having a child.” Savannah came back with a heavy rebuttal:
“I’m not the one who admitted they would be OK with killing babies in foster care and killing children that had been abused.”

Whew. That right there was the moment.

The woman replied, “That’s not the point,” and then—outta nowhere—delivered a string of punches straight to Savannah’s face. And yes, each hit landed. Antao ended up visibly stunned, her face bruised and leaking.

Despite the physical assault, Savannah appeared on Fox News with a stitched-up face and a spirit that hadn’t wavered.

“I’m doing all right. I have some battle scars but we’re here,” she said, still smiling despite everything she went through. That punch might’ve rocked her body, but it didn’t shake her beliefs. Sis stood on business.

Savannah made it clear that her stance on being pro-life wasn’t about to change because of one violent encounter. Instead, she took it as proof of how deeply divided people are over this issue—and how important it is to keep having these convos, even when it gets uncomfortable.

Live Action Responds: “We Won’t Be Intimidated”

Lila Rose, the founder and president of Live Action, came out with a strong statement backing Savannah and condemning the attack.

“We are deeply grateful for the work Savannah has done to protect preborn children and help end abortion in our nation. Her bravery in the face of violence is heroic. We are grateful she is safe and receiving support. No one should ever face physical assault for expressing their views in public.”

But that wasn’t all. Lila made it clear that this moment wouldn’t stop their movement.

“We will not be intimidated. Live Action will continue our goal to defund Planned Parenthood – which kills over 1,000 children every day while receiving more than $700 million in taxpayer funding. We remain committed to our mission to completely abolish abortion and ensure every child is protected under the law.”
