He was also second on the team in 58 catches and receiving 866 yards. Kyren Lacy Accused Of Causing Deadly Hit-And-Run Two Days Before Entering NFL Draft
However, just two days before this he was accused of causing a deadly hit-and-run crash in Lafourche Parish. On December 17, Louisiana State Police accused the former Louisiana State University football player of causing a crash that killed a 78-year-old man.
Police said he not only caused the crash but also fled the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities. They alleged that he was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on Louisiana Highway 20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone.”
Louisiana State Police added:
“As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”
NFL Prospect Kyren Lacy Dies Two Days Before Deadly Hit-And-Run Evidence Hearing
Police said Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled “without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.” Louisiana State Police identified a victim as 78-year-old Thibodaux resident Herman Hall. Hall, a passenger in the Kia Sorento hit, later died from injuries suffered in the crash.
Lacy’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux, told police that his client was “fully cooperating with the authorities.” On January 12, Lacy turned himself into the Lafourche (Louisiana) Parish Sheriff’s Office. Police arrested and charged him with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with death, and reckless operation of a vehicle. He was jailed and released on $151,000 bail, according to police records. According to WAFB, a grand jury was set to begin hearing evidence in the case tomorrow, Monday, April 14.
