As we previously shared, 35-year-old singer Sean Kingston, born Kisean Paul Anderson, and his 62-year-old mother, Janice Turner, were both accused of defrauding businesses out of more than $1 million in a fraud scheme since October 2023.
The alleged scam involved jewelry, luxury vehicles, a luxury microLED TV, and other high-priced goods. Federal prosecutors accused the duo of scamming businesses and falsely claiming they sent money transfers to pay for high-end goods.

Prosecutors claimed the duo kept all of the items even after businesses learned that their payments never cleared. They allegedly obtained more than $1 million in property in their alleged scheming. Kingston and his mother are accused of scamming a car dealer of a $160,000 Cadillac Escalade and scamming jewelers of $480,000 worth of items. This is the second time the duo has faced allegations of fraud. In 2006, Kingston’s mother admitted guilt to bank fraud and served about 10 months in prison.
In May 2024, the feds raided Sean Kingston’s Florida mansion, which made headlines. During the raid, authorities arrested his mother. Hours after her arrest, the singer found himself in custody as well, facing 10 charges in the fraud case. He was booked into Broward County Jail on fraud and grand theft charges and later released on a $100,000 bond.

In August 2024, Sean Kingston and his mother pleaded not guilty to fraud and grand theft charges. In March 2025, Kingston and his mother appeared in court again, where they were found guilty in their $1 million federal wire fraud case. On March 28, a jury convicted the mother-and-son duo on all five charges they faced involving wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Reportedly, Kingston burst into tears as the jury revealed the guilty verdict for him and his mother. He also allegedly told U.S. Marshals to “protect my mother” as they remanded her into custody and escorted her out of the courtroom. The judge deemed the singer’s Jamaican-born mother a flight risk, resulting in her remaining in custody. Meanwhile, Kingston was ordered to house arrest until their sentencing hearing on July 11.
However, according to TMZ, Sean Kingston was scooped back up by the feds after failing to satisfy his $100,000 bond. On Monday (April 14), reports began surfacing claiming Kingston was back in federal custody at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.

Kingston’s attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, told TMZ that his client couldn’t pay the $100,000 cash bond tied to his federal wire fraud case, but was working on it. Rosenblatt further claimed that some unnamed celebrity friends were trying to help his client out. The lawyer also said that, against his counsel, Kingston turned down a deal with prosecutors.
Now, the judge can sentence him to a prison term based on existing guidelines. He said he also advised Kingston to stay in jail to garner some time served before his July sentencing. By Tuesday morning (April 15), Kingston found the dough and posted his $100,000 cash bond. At the time, another attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, told TMZ, “Mr. Kingston’s bond has been posted and he is in the process of being released.”
Kingston is back on home detention and under GPS monitoring. He also had to surrender his passport until sentencing on July 11. According to local Florida outlet Local10, Kingston and his mother are looking at a max of 20 years in prison per count per person.
