Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the woman accusing Sharpe of rape, is making it clear — that so-called “key evidence” isn’t going public. Not yet at least.
As we previously reported, a woman filed a $50 million lawsuit against the NFL Hall of Famer, alleging that he raped her multiple times near the end of their two-year relationship. Sharpe, who has been vocal about the claims, took to social media on April 22 and said:
“A 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine.”
He didn’t stop there. He urged Buzbee to release the full video to the public, unedited, adding that:
“The vid should actually be 10 minutes or so.”
But Buzbee ain’t budging. Speaking to TMZ, he made his position crystal clear:
“The only reason you know about the existence of a video recording is that Mr. Sharpe specifically referenced it in his bulls*** statement,” Buzbee said. “The contents of the video was shared during the mediation process with Sharpe’s attorneys. Again, Sharpe and his team disclosed that, not us. Sharpe himself was offered on more than one occasion to view it himself. He declined. We’ve never made any claims or threats about it and won’t do so.”
He doubled down, saying:
“We won’t be ‘releasing’ the video as it is key evidence in the case and will be treated as such.”
What’s in the Lawsuit and Why It’s Got Everybody Talking
The woman behind the lawsuit, listed as “Jane Doe,” claims Shannon Sharpe sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. This wasn’t just a one-time incident — the suit details multiple encounters of alleged rape, emotional abuse, and manipulation. She’s now seeking $50 million in damages.
Sharpe, on the other hand, is calling the entire thing a shakedown attempt.
“I didn’t do this. This is a setup and I’m not backing down.”
Doe says she’s not just coming forward for money… clearly she wants some accountability. But without the video being made public, folks are left guessing about what’s really on that tape.
Tony Buzbee: No Media Games, Just Legal Strategy
Buzbee, who’s no stranger to high-profile cases (he’s repped folks in situations involving Deshaun Watson and more), is keeping this one strictly legal. His stance on the sex video? It’s simple: it’s evidence, not entertainment.
