Fat Joe Suing His Ex-Hypeman for Defamation After He Called the Rapper a Pedophile

Fat Joe Ain’t Letting It Slide: Rap Legend Takes Legal Action Over Sick Accusations

Fat Joe is not about to let anyone play with his name and get away with it, so rather than taking this situation to the streets, the rapper is handling things the legal way.

According to reports, the Bronx-born rap icon is now suing his ex-hypeman Terrance Dixson for defamation. Why? Because Dixson took to social media and made some disturbing claims… saying Fat Joe was involved in pedophilia. But Joey ain’t stopping there. He’s also suing Dixson’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, for defamation and emotional distress.

Joe, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, claims Dixson blasted out “countless posts on social media containing a torrent of wholly fabricated, grotesque, and scandalous allegations — accusing Cartagena of unspeakable acts such as pedophilia, statutory rape and sexual assault.”

Joe believes all of this started because Dixson got salty over money he claims he’s owed.

The Alleged Shake-Down: From Demands to Dirty Threats

So get into this: Joe ain’t buying that this is just some ex-employee rant. Nah, he says it’s a straight-up shake-down plot. And the paperwork backs that up.

It all popped off on March 23, 2025, when Dixson and Blackburn sent Joe a demand — claiming they were owed money for being a “ghostwriter and uncredited vocalist” on his songs. Joe didn’t bite. So, guess what happened next?

They turned up the heat.

By April 21, they came back with another letter threatening a lawsuit. But it wasn’t just about unpaid wages anymore. That new letter was wild — threatening to accuse Joe of everything from statutory rape to sex trafficking and even fraud. None of which, according to Joe, has anything to do with unpaid music work.

Joe’s team says these threats were meant to scare him into paying up. But he ain’t folding.

Fat Joe Fires Back: “This is a Desperate Scam”

Joe came through swinging in a public statement that reads like a mic drop.

“These allegations are completely false and part of a criminal conspiracy orchestrated between a disgruntled former hype man and his attorney,” the rapper stated. “These two individuals have been scheming together to extort me with their elaborate and ludicrous demands changing by the day. The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation I’ve endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable. I’m taking legal action to expose their misconduct and I’m fully confident that the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam.”

His attorney, Joe Tacopina, backed him up, saying the allegations are completely false and part of a “criminal extortion scheme.”

“The allegations against Mr. Cartagena are completely false and part of a criminal extortion scheme orchestrated by an attorney who a federal judge recently condemned for abusing the court system to harass and pressure defendants. Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated by fabricated claims, lies about witnesses, or shameless threats. We are taking immediate legal action to expose this fraudulent scheme and we will hold all parties fully accountable.”

Judge Already Put the Lawyer on Blast

Now, let’s not forget… this isn’t Tyrone Blackburn’s first time in hot water. According to court docs, Judge Denise Cote of the Southern District of New York already slammed him for shady legal tactics.

She stated he,

“improperly files cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations, and pressure defendants to settle quickly.”

Joe says the harassment didn’t just start this year; Dixson allegedly been bothering him and his team for years with harassing texts and social media messages.

Fat Joe’s not playing. When it comes to false claims about his character, he’s going “All The Way Up” with legal smoke, rightfully so.
