Bill Belichick Clears the Air After CBS Interview Gets Awkward

Legendary football coach Bill Belichick is speaking out loud and clear, defending his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, after she went viral for interrupting his “CBS Sunday Morning” interview.

Belichick wasn’t here for the noise surrounding the moment and came with receipts in a statement obtained by Page Six. “I agreed to speak with ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ to promote my new book, ‘The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football,’” he said. “Before this interview, I made it clear to my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I took part in would focus solely on the book’s content.”

Unfortunately for Belichick, he says CBS didn’t stick to the script. “I was surprised when unrelated topics came up, and I repeatedly told the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I wanted to keep the conversation centered on the book,” he continued.

“She Was Doing Her Job” – Belichick Sets the Record Straight

Belichick made sure folks knew his girl wasn’t being rude — she was just doing what needed to be done.

“After this occurred several times,” he explained, “Jordon—who I share a personal and professional relationship with—stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”

“She wasn’t deflecting any specific question or topic; she was simply doing her job to make sure the interview stayed on track,” he added, making it clear he wasn’t here for the way CBS chopped up the footage. He claimed the final segment was edited to “appear as though [they] were avoiding the question of how [they] met.”

And just to shut down all the speculation, Belichick shared the backstory himself: they met on a flight back in 2021, and according to him, it’s something they’ve already spoken about openly.

Belichick Says Interview Was Edited to Push False Narrative

Belichick went on to call out the segment’s final cut, saying it didn’t reflect the full vibe of the interview.

“The final eight-minute segment doesn’t reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide array of topics related to my career,” he said. “Instead, it presents selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative—that Jordon was trying to control the conversation—which is simply not true.”

His frustration reflects the kind of media twist that often goes viral without context. And honestly, based on how things went down, folks online were definitely talking — but not all of them had the full story.

The Viral Moment: “We’re Not Talking About This”

The viral moment happened when CBS host Tony Dokoupil pointed to Hudson off-camera and addressed the elephant in the room — their relationship.

“Everybody in the world seems to be following this relationship,” Dokoupil said. “They’ve got an opinion about your private life. It’s got nothing to do with them, but they’re invested in it. How do you deal with that?”

Belichick kept it calm and said, “I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks. Just try to do what I feel is best for me and what’s right.”

But when Dokoupil pushed further, asking how the couple met, Hudson stepped in and shut it down, saying flatly, “We’re not talking about this.”

When Dokoupil turned toward her with a surprised, “No?” she hit him back with another firm “No.”

And just like that, the clip made its rounds online — but without Belichick’s side of the story, folks were left to speculate.
