White Mother on Video Using Racial Slur Against Black Child With Autism Sparks Outrage

A disturbing video has gone viral showing a white mother using a racial slur against a Black child with autism. The incident occurred in Rochester, Minnesota, where Shiloh Hendrix was seen shouting racial slurs at a young Black boy at a local playground. Witnesses say the child, who has autism, was accused of trying to take toys belonging to Hendrix’s child.

Rather than de-escalate the situation or speak to the child’s guardian, Hendrix lashed out, calling the boy the n-word multiple times — all while holding her child. A bystander immediately called her out, demanding to know why she would use such language toward a child. Hendrix didn’t deny it. She doubled down.

Shiloh Hendrix Defends Her Actions and Launches Fundraiser After Backlash

As outrage spread online, Hendrix quickly tried repositioning herself as the victim. She created a GiveSendGo fundraiser, claiming she and her family now fear for safety. According to her page, the goal was to raise money to relocate due to what she calls “threats” and “unfair backlash.” To date, the campaign has brought in over $280,000, according to KARE 11.

In her fundraising message, Hendrix wrote,

“I called the kid out for what he was.”

That quote only intensified the backlash, especially from advocacy groups and Black parents. Critics say her unapologetic tone and financial gain from the situation reflect how racism continues to be monetized and rewarded, even when it targets vulnerable children.

Social media users flooded the fundraiser’s comment section with criticism, while others called for platforms like GiveSendGo to shut down campaigns that reward hate-based behavior.

Rochester Officials Respond to Playground Incident Involving Black Autistic Child

The city of Rochester issued an official statement in response to the growing backlash:

“The City of Rochester is firmly committed to fostering public spaces that are inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all residents and visitors—spaces where individuals of all backgrounds can relax, play, and connect with friends and neighbors.” – City of Rochester

The police department has confirmed that an investigation is underway, though it remains unclear if any charges will be filed. A GoFundMe was also launched for the black child whom Hendrix targeted.
