In their latest move, the administration announced it will pay a total of one thousand dollars to undocumented immigrants willing to voluntarily return to their home country.

According to a new statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the program is being pushed as a “safe, cost-effective” alternative to arrests and deportation raids.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

“This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport,” she added.

Officials also noted that choosing to self-deport may help undocumented immigrants preserve a possible path back to the U.S. legally in the future.

Trump’s Immigration Crackdown Hits Hard in First 100 Days

President Donald Trump been on a mission. Ever since he returned to office, he’s made it crystal clear that immigration enforcement is his top priority.

Within his first 100 days, Trump dropped a wave of executive orders, filed lawsuits, and launched ICE raids like we haven’t seen in years. Clearly he wasn’t playing.

One of the most aggressive moves came from border czar Tom Homan, who revealed that just last month, the administration had already carried out 139,000 deportations.

Yeah, you read that right. One hundred thirty-nine thousand folks have already been sent back—and this new self-deportation plan is just the beginning.

What Is the CBP Home App & How Does It Work?

If you’re wondering how people are supposed to “self-deport” with an app—here’s the rundown.

The CBP Home App, introduced under the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, reportedly allows undocumented immigrants to register for voluntary departure. It provides travel scheduling tools and even connects them with financial aid.

Mixed Reactions Flood Social Media: “This Is Wild”

Soon as the news hit, social media lit up.

On X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote, “Trump really out here giving folks gas money to leave the country?? This is WILD.” Another tweeted, “$1,000 ain’t even enough for a flight and rent for a month back home. What a joke.”

While some conservatives praised the move as a smart fiscal decision, many others—especially online called it exploitative, dangerous, and “peak Trump chaos.”

What Comes Next? Deportation Plans Likely to Expand

Critics say this could create even more fear within immigrant communities, especially among mixed-status families who don’t want to risk separation.

But if the numbers keep climbing—over 139,000 deported already—this may become the new normal under Trump 2.0.
