After Dawn Richard testified against Diddy about Cassie in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy case,the mogul filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by his former Dirty Money group mate and Danity Kane member.
As we previously shared, on Friday (May 16), Dawn Richard testified against Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming she allegedly witnessed him trying to hit his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine, in the head with a black skillet.
Dawn Richard Testifies Against Diddy, Alleges He Abused Cassie ‘Often’
Richard testified that she “often” saw violence by Diddy against Cassie. She claimed that in 2009, she saw one of these incidents go down between the two at his home in Los Angeles. Richard said that while they were recording, “[Cassie] was attacked by Sean Combs, kicked.” She further alleged:
“He was saying, ‘Where the f**k is my food?’ He grabbed a black skillet with eggs and tried to hit her over the head. Cassie dropped to the ground and went into the fetal position. Sean Combs was kicking her in the head and body. Then, he dragged her up to the first floor. [There was] glass breaking and yelling. I was scared for her, and for me too.”
Richard admitted that she did not intervene, nor did she call the police. The following day, she alleges Diddy told her, “It has been passionate and that [Cassie] was okay. That it would be better if [Dawn and Diddy] didn’t talk and that people could end up missing.” She told the court that she interpreted the message to mean that if she disobeyed, it would result in “death.”
Dawn Richard Files Lawsuit Against Diddy Alleging Abuse Against Her And Other Women Around Him
According to TMZ, the same day that Dawn Richard testified against Diddy about Cassie in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy trial, he filed to dismiss Richard’s civil lawsuit against him. In September 2024, Richard accused Diddy of a pattern of abusive behavior; specifically, brutality, sexual abuse, and manipulation. In her lawsuit, she alleged Diddy groped, terrorized, and belittled her while working on his hit show “Making The Band.”
At the time, Diddy’s lawyers told TMZ, “In an attempt to rewrite history, Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a payday.” They further claimed that if things were as negative as she alleged, she wouldn’t have agreed to sign another contract with Diddy later on, for his Diddy-Dirty Money group with Kalenna Harper.
She recounts instances where she witnessed Diddy allegedly verbally abusing female contestants on his hit reality show, ‘Making The Band.’ She alleges he referred to them with derogatory terms such as “fat,” “ugly,” “b*tches,” and “hoes.” Richard claims the emotional toll suffered from these alleged incidents left her fearing for her safety, particularly after witnessing the aftermath of an incident involving Diddy’s ex and children’s mother, Kim Porter.
Diddy Counters Dawn Richard’s Abuse Lawsuit And Files To Dismiss Case Same Day She Testifies Against Him In Federal Sex Case
She further alleged that in 2005, she witnessed Porter leaving a recording studio visibly distressed with injuries. In her lawsuit, Dawn Richard also alleged Diddy abused another former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. She claims to have witnessed Diddy’s alleged violent behavior against Cassie on multiple occasions, including the same incident she testified against Diddy about in court on Friday.
In her lawsuit, Dawn Richard also recalled a moment she alleges her fellow Dirty Money group mate Kalenna Harper attempted to intervene with Diddy and Cassie and offer the latter support, only to be met with Diddy’s wrath. Richard alleges he told them, “Y’all b*tches don’t get in my relationship,” and allegedly threatened their careers, stating, “I end artists … I shelve careers … You could be missing … You b*tches want to die today.”
Attempting to legally challenge Dawn Richard’s civil abuse lawsuit, Diddy filed to dismiss the case on the same day she testified against him. Diddy called the allegations completely false. In his legal documents filed Friday (May 16), Diddy’s legal team highlighted a series of reasons as to why Richard’s lawsuit should be thrown out.
They argue statute of limitations, improper group pleads, and more. Diddy’s legal team, right off the bat, accuses Richard of trying to follow the bandwagon of several other women accusing Diddy of abuse. They write, “[Dawn] seeks to transform narratives of alleged injuries against others into a headline-grabbing sex trafficking conspiracy as to her.”
