Customer Reportedly Shot and Killed by Checkers Employee After Heated Argument in Florida • Hollywood Unlocked

A Florida customer was reportedly fatally shot by a Checkers employee after a dispute over an order turned violent last Wednesday night.

The incident happened around 10:10 p.m. at a Checkers near Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee. According to ABC13, Osceola County deputies identified the customer as Wesley Robertson and the employee as Elijah Travis Mackey, 23.

What Led to the Shooting?

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Mackey climbing out of the restaurant’s drive-thru window to confront Robertson, who was standing at the front of the location.

A witness told investigators the two men got into a verbal altercation after Robertson made a derogatory comment toward Mackey. That’s when Mackey allegedly pulled out a small handgun and shot the customer once in the chest.

Robertson was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Checkers Responds to the Incident

Following the incident, Checkers released a public statement addressing the situation:

“We are shocked and saddened by the incident that occurred last night at our restaurant in Kissimmee, Florida. The actions of this one employee do not reflect the values of the thousands of our hardworking employees across the country. We are working closely with the police in their investigation, and we are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”

The company also confirmed it is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

Employee Charged With Murder

Mackey was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the initial argument.

A late-night food order ended in tragedy after a confrontation between a customer and a fast food worker led to a fatal shooting. With Mackey now facing serious charges and a family grieving, the incident has sparked ongoing conversations about workplace violence, public safety, and employee accountability.
