#Socialites, Didier Dubreucq, The ‘Grandpa Robber’ Linked To Kim K’s Paris Heist, Has Died Just Weeks After His Conviction
One of the most infamous faces tied to the Kim Kardashian Paris robbery — Didier Dubreucq — has reportedly passed away just one month after being sentenced in the case. Dubreucq, known as “Blue Eyes,” was one of the so-called “grandpa robbers”, a group of elderly thieves convicted in the $10 million Paris heist that shook the world back in 2016.
According to reports from French media, the 69-year-old was already battling lung cancer while awaiting trial and was undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Despite his deteriorating health, he was convicted this past May alongside seven others involved in the robbery that left Kim K traumatized and the world stunned.
Kim Kardashian Responds to Paris Jewelry Heist Convictions: ‘I’ll Never Forget What Happened’
“I Had Nothing To Do With This,” Dubreucq Claimed During His Trial
During his court appearance in April, Didier Dubreucq continued to deny any role in the infamous Paris robbery.
“I had nothing to do with this,” he said under oath. Despite the denial, he was found guilty but due to his condition, missed the actual sentencing.
The court handed him a seven-year sentence, with five years suspended. But because he had already spent two years in pre-trial detention, he was effectively spared more jail time.
Other defendants also got off with minimal time due to health and age concerns. Judge David De Pas even stated,
“The state of health of the main protagonists ethically prohibits incarcerating anyone.”
Let’s Not Forget: Kim Kardashian’s Life Was Threatened At Gunpoint
This was not just a robbery — it was a terrifying attack. Back in October 2016, Kim Kardashian was tied up, gagged, and held at gunpoint by masked men inside her luxury hotel suite in Paris.
Over the course of the three-week trial, jurors were reminded of the brutality of the robbery. Kim K told the court she was afraid she would be “shot dead on the bed” as the robbers made off with millions in jewels.
Among the stolen items? A massive $4 million engagement ring from her then-husband, Kanye West. The total value of the robbery hit $10 million, making it one of the most high-profile celebrity heists in modern history.
The “Grandpa Robbers” Weren’t Just Any Crew — They Were Seasoned Criminals
The crew earned their nickname thanks to their ages — most of the defendants were in their 60s and 70s. But don’t get it twisted. These men were far from harmless grandpas.
Dubreucq had a rap sheet stretching back decades. Prosecutors argued that he was part of a seasoned criminal ring that carefully studied Kardashian’s movements before the attack.
Despite his consistent denials, Dubreucq’s fingerprints, along with phone data, placed him dangerously close to the scene. French authorities have long claimed that this crew operated with “military-level precision.”
Kim Kardashian Speaks Out: “It Left A Lasting Impact On Me And My Family”
Kim didn’t hold back when she finally addressed the court’s verdict.
“This was the most terrifying experience of my life,” she wrote in a statement. “It left a lasting impact on me and my family.”
Since the robbery, Kardashian has taken extra steps to protect herself, increasing security and even admitting it changed how she views fame and public life.
