Rapper The Game Defends Mike Tyson After Jake Paul Loss — Other Celebs React

Sports fans who tuned into Friday night’s match with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul saw the 58-year-old boxing legend stand his ground against 27-year-old Jake Paul.

With this latest win, Paul’s professional record improved to 11-1, while Tyson’s record stands at 50-7. Although many were disappointed with the outcome and even with some aspects of Tyson’s performance, a number of people have come forward to defend him, praising him for still being one of the greatest boxers in sports history. Rapper The Game was among the many Tyson fans who voiced their support. He tweeted,

“I see all these weird celebrities n!%%as saying Mike looked bad, this was sad & disgusting etc… yall goofy. I saw a 58 year old legend go 8 rounds with a 27 year old in front of the world in a sold out football stadium n walk away with 20 million dollars, his dignity & yet another achievement he said was only for HIM. I’m proud of you champ!!!!”

Piers Morgan also chimed in, stating, “Prime @MikeTyson would have destroyed @jakepaul in 90 seconds. A 58yr-old Tyson went 8 rounds against a much fitter and very capable boxer half his age. Mock him all you like, but Mike’s got the heart of a lion, balls of steel, and will always be an absolute legend.”

Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts as well, saying, “Love @MikeTyson. Always have, always will. But 58 is 58. Plus the legs just wasn’t there. Old is old. Thank God he didn’t get knocked out. Now it’s time for @jakepaul to get in the ring with a Top-10 fighter — or Hell, a Champion. No more BBall players, strikers from MMA, or old men. It’s time for Jake to get into a real fight. He’s good enough! Make it happen.”

Following the match, Paul stated at a press conference that he took it easy on Tyson but aimed to provide an entertaining show. “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt,” Paul explained.

He continued, “When someone’s just surviving in the ring, basically, it’s hard to make it exciting. So I couldn’t really get him to engage me, or slip shots, and, you know, do something super cool or whatever. But I don’t care about what people have to say. They’re always going to have something to say, and it is what it is.”

Right after the fight, Mike expressed uncertainty about whether that match was his last. Only time will tell what or who is next for the champ!
