Naomi Osaka and Cordae are going their separate ways.
The tennis star announced their breakup this Monday in an Instagram post. In a sweet and respectful manner, Osaka explained, “Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship.”
Osaka, who shares a child with the rapper, went on to note, “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad.” She continued, “Honestly, I’m really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing, and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
The former couple began their relationship in 2019. The rap star was seen regularly cheering from the stands during Osaka’s tennis matches, and Osaka showed the same love at his concerts. After officially withdrawing from the 2023 Australian Open, Osaka revealed that she was pregnant with their first child.
The past couple of months have been challenging for the athlete, both on and off the court. In 2024, she missed most of the Asia Swing of the 2024 WTA season after suffering a back and abdominal injury during her match against Coco Gauff. As a result of her injury, it ended Osaka’s comeback season.
Despite the setbacks, Osaka is staying positive while kicking off the new year.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that what’s meant for me is meant for me and maybe certain situations occur to train my mind for what’s to come. Maybe there are bigger and better things on my path, and I just have to continue the journey to encounter them,” she said in a follow-up feed post. She added, “That being said, this is about to be a great year.”
