President Donald Trump is making it clear that the U.S. government will officially recognize just two genders. He’s also gearing up to roll back federal protections for transgender individuals.
During his inaugural speech from the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, he laid out his vision. “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders — male and female.” Trump is set to drop an executive order that could cut back on medical care and participation in sports for transgender people. An incoming official mentioned that moving forward, passports and visas will only recognize two sexes, as reported by The Associated Press.
