The procedure took place at a hospital in Santa Catarina, Brazil, and according to the Independent, Godoi went into cardiac arrest at the time of the sedation process before the tattooing began. A statement from the tattoo studio owner said that there were multiple attempts to revive him by a cardiologist but were unsuccessful. His passing was announced in an Instagram post to his 225,000 followers, “Today we say goodbye to Ricardo Godoi, an incredible person who left his mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.” Hours before his passing, Godoi expressed his excitement for the tattoo session.
“His joy, generosity and light will remain present in our memories and in every story he helped to build. May he rest in peace,” the post continued. Godoi was celebrated for his engaging content about luxury cars, often featuring his wife, Rafaela Gastaldi. He was also the CEO of Godoi Premium Group, a business he built to reflect his passion for high-end automobiles.

The death of the influencer has raised concerns about the risks associated with using general anesthesia during cosmetic procedures, such as tattoos. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Godoi’s death, as this incident brings into question the safety protocols for combining medical-grade sedation with elective procedures, particularly in professional environments.
Social media users have previously expressed their concerns about tattooing under general anesthesia due to the risks it poses.
