Hours after airing their Wendy Williams documentary, TMZ learned she’s one step closer to being free and ending her guardianship. Sources with direct knowledge tell the publication that Williams signed an affidavit on Wednesday afternoon (February 12). In the paperwork, she asks a judge to set her free from her conservatorship.
According to TMZ, Williams states in the affidavit that she has “regained capacity” to function without a legal and court-appointed guardian.

Wendy also reportedly says she does NOT have Frontotemporal Dementia despite what doctors and her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, have been claiming.
TMZ notes that in their documentary they break down Williams’ alleged diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia and that patients never get better — which is the opposite of the mental state that Wendy Williams has shown the public in all of her recent interviews amid her #FreeWendy campaign. The publication even argues that Williams’ state of mind is better than it was two years ago.

Wendy Williams Prepared To Fight In Potential Jury Trial To End Guardianship
Additionally, sources tell the publication that upon signing this affidavit to end her guardianship, Wendy Williams will be re-evaluated by a doctor next Tuesday (February 18). An attorney that Williams hired to end her guardianship selected this doctor.
TMZ also reports that the following day (Wednesday, February 19), Williams’ lawyer will file an Emergency Order to Show Cause. This means a petition will be drawn to push the judge who has the power to end Williams’ guardianship. If the judge rejects the request, TMZ reports that the media icon will demand a trial by jury.
At that time, the jurors will decide if she has “regained her capacity” enough to rule her own life without the control of a guardian or conservatorship.
