Young Thug speaks after Fulton County prosecutors filed a motion to revoke his probation over posts about Atlanta gang invesetigator Marissa Viverito, and more.
On Wednesday (April 2), the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office came for Thugger. The FulCo DA’s office filed a motion to revoke the probation for Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams.
The document says, “Since sentencing, the Defendant has engaged in conduct that threatens the safety of witnesses and prosecutors, compromises ongoing legal proceedings, and warrants immediate revocation of probation.” The motion also claims, “The integrity of this court, and the safety of those involved in this prosecution are at stake.”
Young Thug Denies Threatening Anyone After DA’s Office Seeks To Revoke Probation
News of the prosecution’s new motion arrives just a few days after Young Thug tweeted about the death of fellow Atlanta rapper Young Scooter and about Atlanta Police gang investigator Marissa Viverito over murder-for-hire claims against Lil Baby. Following the new motion, Young Thug took to his Twitter to address his since-deleted posts.
He said, “I don’t make threats to people l’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love.”
Looking Back On Young Thug’s YSL RICO Case And 15-Year Probation
As we previously shared, Young Thug was part of the huge racketeering case against YSL, what prosecutors alleged was a gang. The case initially began as an indictment that charged 28 people, including Young Thug and fellow rapper and Thug’s label signee Gunna. Prosecutors accused Thug of conspiring to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
Nine other defendants ended up taking plea deals before the trial began, including Gunna, real name Sergio Giovanni Kitchens. Thug took the case to trial and ending up taking a guilty plea as part of a non-negotiated agreement. Thug was facing 120 years in prison and during sentencing, prosecutors sought 45 years, with 25 served in custody and 20 years on probation.
However, Judge Page Reese Whitaker opted to ban him from the metro Atlanta area for the first 10 years of his 15-year probation. The rare exceptions include medical emergencies of family members and funerals. They also include any scheduled presentations or concerts that warn of the dangers of gang participation. The latter requires him to do at least four times a year.
The judge also banned Thug from promoting gangs or gang culture in any way. As well as ordering him to use his celebrity status to campaign against gangs. He’s also been ordered to cease all contact with gang members and YSL affiliates.
