While New Orleans jail escapee Antoine Massey, 32, remains on the run, police have now arrested his sister and his girlfriend — who is his alleged domestic abuse victim for whom he is behind bars — for allegedly helping hide him.

As we previously shared on May 16, ten inmates busted out of the New Orleans Parish Justice Center around 12:23 a.m. According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, the inmates used defective cell locks and snuck out through a wall behind a toilet. The inmates were then seen on surveillance footage exiting through a supply dock. From there, they scaled a perimeter wall and ran across an interstate.
A prison maintenance worker was accused of helping the ten inmates escape. He was later arrested on May 20. The great escape triggered sweeping audits and mounting fear among victims and prosecutors, plus intense scrutiny of jail leadership.

Within the first five days of the manhunt, authorities captured five inmates. On the tenth day (May 16), three more escapees were captured.
- Kendell Myles, 20 – Arrested May 16, found hiding under a car in the Hotel Monteleone garage
- Robert Moody, 21 – Captured May 16 in Mid-City after a Crime Stoppers tip
- Dkenan Dennis, 24 – Apprehended later May 16 near Chef Menteur Hwy and Dale Street
- Gary C. Price, 21 – Taken into custody May 19 in New Orleans East
- Corey Boyd, 19 – Taken into custody May 20 in New Orleans
- Lenton Vanburen, 26 – Arrested May 26, found in Baton Rouge
- Jermaine Donald, 42 – Captured May 26 in Walker County, Texas after high-speed police chase
- Leo Tate, 31 – Captured May 26 in Walker County, Texas after high-speed police chase
Two more escapees remain on the run:
- Derrick Groves, 27
- Antoine Massey, 32
Antoine Massey’s Sister And Girlfriend/Alleged Abuse Victim Arrested For Allegedly Helping Hide Him After New Orleans Jailbreak
On Tuesday (May 27), Louisiana State Police (LSP) confirmed that Antoine Massey’s sister, Daishanae Massey, was arrested for accessory after the fact in the New Orleans jail escape case. She was booked in St. Tammany Parish Jail. Daishanae’s arrest brings the total number of people charged with assisting the escapees to at least 14.
Additionally, according to NOLA.com, Antoine Massey’s girlfriend, who remains unidentified as his alleged abuse victim, has been arrested as he remains on the run. The 21-year-old woman is accused of acting as a principal to an aggravated escape and obstructing justice. She is being held without bond in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, according to jail records.
Furthermore, in Antoine and his girlfriend’s case, he is accused of brutal domestic assault that landed her in the hospital and him in jail. On March 25, he was jailed without bond on charges of car theft and domestic abuse involving strangulation after the incident in which he allegedly hospitalized the woman.
