A Brazilian influencer has died after undergoing multiple cosmetic procedures at a plastic surgery clinic in Istanbul, Turkey.
31-year-old Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini, who had built a strong social media presence, tragically passed away last Friday after a nose job, liposuction, and breast augmentation at Tusa Hospital, her husband revealed. The 28-year-old reportedly underwent the surgeries in exchange for social media promotion.
Procedures Done In Exchange for an Instagram Post
According to Elgar Miles, Buldrini’s husband, the influencer had agreed to post about the procedures on Instagram in exchange for the surgeries. He told G1 News that she and the doctor had even partied together before the surgeries and discussed possibly changing the surgery date. Despite that, the clinic moved forward with the original date.
Miles said he was shown a photo of his wife recovering after the procedures, but just hours later, she went into cardiac arrest and died. “Our last days were too beautiful to end in this tragic way. I will love you forever because I chose you to do so,” he wrote in a touching Instagram tribute.
“Years and years of building our empire, and today I am here in this room alone with no ground to stand on. I promised your family to protect you and love you as the queen and beautiful person inside and out that you are.”
Clinic Issues Statement Following Backlash
Following widespread attention and criticism, Tusa Hospital issued a statement noting that there was an “unexpected complication” during her recovery. The clinic said Buldrini had signed all legal and medical consent forms prior to her surgery and had been informed of the risks involved.
Authorities in Turkey briefly detained the doctors involved, but they were later released. The exact cause of death is still under investigation.
